Access News    February 2017

Here at Keytracker we kicked off the new year with the Bett show from 25th – 28th January at the Excel in London.

The show was a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the solutions we provide to the education sector. iLockerz was of particular interest to this sector, helping educational facilities manage valuable mobile technology and secure personal devices.

FAQ:

I only have a handful of keys but want to restrict access to them; can i do this without investing in a large system?

No matter how big or small your key and asset management needs, we can provide a system for you.

For smaller amounts of keys our Mechanical Systems and Single T1 units are best. The Mechanical Peg in-Peg out board can hold up to a minimum of 5 keys/ key bunches in a single track.

If you have an even smaller amount of keys (e.g. 1-2) and don’t wish to rent/purchase a Mechanical system, the Keytracker Single T1 unit is available to rent or purchase individually and can be wall mounted to securely hold a single key or key bunch.

Arriva Trains Wales

Overview:

Arriva Trains Wales have invested in new hand held contactless ticketing systems for use on trains across the network.

To safely secure these valuable devices and meet Card Payment Industry regulations (CPI), Arriva contacted iLockerz for a solution.

Challenges:

Arriva Trains Wales operate on a network stretching countrywide from Anglesey to Cardiff, many stations are in remote locations or are unmanned. Stations that are manned have operating hours meaning that outside of these hours’ conductors cannot access the equipment needed in a secure and auditable way.

There were additional factors with conductors taking their breaks and having to carry valuable equipment with them and the issue of equipment reliability, with handheld devices needing regular charging.

Finally, by using the card payment machines Arriva had to comply with CPI regulations, although no data is stored on the devices they still have the capability to receive payment and could be a risk in the wrong hands.

Solution:

iLockerz worked with Arriva to understand the challenges and requirements they had and provided a mobile device iLockerz system with built-in bespoke software to allow collection and return configurations as well as bring your own device mode for securing devices while staff are taking breaks.

The system was successfully piloted at Treherbert station and Arriva Trains Wales have since ordered a further 8 systems to be deployed across the network.

Ian Hughes, Senior Conductor Manager, at Arriva Trains Wales said: “Our new ticket vending machines bring us up to date with the latest technology in the industry and protecting this equipment and complying with industry regulations is paramount to us.

Hughes continues: “By rolling out the iLockerz systems across multiple stations we can ensure the safety, security and importantly reliability of these valuable pieces of equipment. The pilot was extremely successful and proved to not only meet our requirements, but exceeded them with bespoke software and reporting functions. It’s great to know that we have invested in a system that can develop and as our requirements change, the system is ready to grow with us.”
