Access News    May 2017

During April we attended the Commercial Vehicle Show, this was a great opportunity to showcase our systems to the in the Commercial Vehicle sector.

Our systems enhance the security vehicles as well as enhancing the availability of vehicles.

We have a very busy month ahead of us, starting off with Ambition Expo at Olympia, London on 3rd and 4th, key and equipment management is vital in the emergency services sector to ensure keys are readily available to the correct people only. come see us on stand 2B62.

Then from the 9th to the 11th we are at Railtex at the NEC Birmingham, demonstrating the benefits key and equipment management can provide across the rail industry, from management of tools and keys during construction, to train operators managing handheld devices on a daily basis.

On the 23rd we will be at the Car Dealer Expo at Silverstone we'll be on stand 306, where we will be discussing the importance of secure and auditable key management systems with dealerships across the UK. We will also be presenting in the CDX theatre at 10am giving a full demonstration of our systems and the integrations with DMS and Biometric readers that we offer.

Case study: University of London

The University of London had identified an issue with the way keys in student accommodation sites were being managed.

The university needed to ensure keys to areas that were out of bounds were securely stored to ensure the safety and security of students living in the residential buildings. These same keys however, needed to be easily accessed by security and maintenance professionals across all 7 residential sites.

The administration building had a similar issue but with keys to a variety of office spaces, these keys needed to be readily available to only those who were authorised to use the facilities and security staff.

Keytracker worked with University of London to provide 8 electronic key management systems for the 8 locations. The systems capable of holding 520 key sets have pin code access with individual codes for each approved user, allowing staff to see who removed a key and at what time.

Each key system holds the master keys for the corresponding building and are linked together with Keytracker Software allowing quick access to approved staff as well as a full audit trail.

Andrew Howarth Deputy Head of Residential Accommodation, at The University of London said: “Since having the systems installed across our sites we have seen a decrease in time spent finding the correct keys for a building or area and have full visibility of who has accessed keys at what time and for how long. It is now obvious if a key is missing and we can easily identify who has it, the system also makes people more accountable for ensuring shares spaces are left clear and tidy.”

Can I restrict access to larger tools and equipment that aren't operated by keys? (e.g. a ladder)

The Keytracker single T1 unit is ideally designed to enable the security of larger items such as ladders and other similar equipment. The Keytracker single T1 unit is available to rent or purchase individually and be wall mounted to securely hold a single key or key bunch.
